WHO CAN BLOG?
These should be given to the various beat reporters. As reporters, they should not express opinions or take sides. Right? But they can point out stuff that doesn't make the board stories or the play advances or the game reports.

Perhaps the section editor will enlist the help of beat reporters to gather these tidbits.

Blog posts are much like columns or Viewpoints but not as long. Make sure whoever blogs has a columnist's knack — breezy, friendly writing style and a sense of humor when appropriate.

DROP THE 'I,' PLEASE

Try to write without spicing your copy with "I did such and so" and "I found such and so." Get YOURSELF out of the narrative. Tell a story and paint a picture for the reader. Use appropriate description without overdoing it.
